Greater DC Diaper Bank
GREATER DC DIAPER BANK empowers families and individuals in need throughout DC, Maryland, and Virginia by providing an adequate and reliable source for basic baby needs and personal hygiene products. At the beginning of FY 2018, we established our Music Festival Program and moved forward with the planning and execution of our first multi-day event. The Tiny Cat Music Festival was a two-day event that showcased musicians from Europe, Canada, the East Coast of the United States and from here in Washington, DC. For this campaign, we partnered with Greater DC Diaper Bank (GDCDB) who was the beneficiary for this campaign.
Based upon our meetings with the charity and their needs we targeted this campaign toward two of the GDCDB's programs; The Monthly and The Baby Pantry. We are proud to report that our Tiny Cat Music Festival campaign was a total success. This effort aligned and fulfilled all three goals of our mission: to enrich the population of the Greater Washington, DC area through expanding the musical arts, bringing communities together and raising funding and awareness for a community-based charity in the Washington, DC region. Each night sold out to capacity and through ticket sales, merchandise sales and personal donations we were able to raise $7,000 for the Greater DC Diaper Bank.
The GDCDB is a smaller organization with a considerable impact. It was amazing to witness the energy and enthusiasm they brought to our campaign. Corinne Cannon was engaging with the attendees on the second night of the event and talked about the organization on stage between bands. We feel that personal connection is vital to our ability to engage and move people to action. During the two-day music festival, the GDCDB invested fully in our activities and helped us achieve our advocacy aims. We have forged strong personal relationships that we plan to maintain for a long time to come. They are a real force of nature.
